Just going on the JPG, the Ensor/Rouault peg seems on the money. But I'm intrigued by the colored cone/triangle shapes around the edge. It feels like the JPG is a cropped version of a larger work, but if not, then this is a very strange abstraction, although as symbols for fangs or blades, I suppose they might be inkeeping with that sacrificial tip Cross detects.
Ensor meets Roualt
ReplyDeleteI like this one a lot. It takes me to the Mayan ruins and all those stacked stone heads. Very cool.

CAP, I think it sits on an easel, and we see the bottom edge of the painting, curved because of the camera lense.
